CONTEMPORARY JAPANESE STYLE PAINTINGS
A regular at local and international tattoo shows, Ky’s contemporary Japanese tattooing has impressed and amazed many both at home and abroad. What many don’t realise is that his impressive tattoo style stems from his passion for art and ability to draw and paint. Having studied Japanese art in school (and filling his spare time engrossed in manga and anime), Ky has developed contemporary art infusing traditional Japanese elements with modern day techniques. He’s often painting for displays at his stand at tattoo shows, for tattoo design ideas for clients and for his own line of merchandise.
NEO TRAD TATTOO STYLE PAINTINGS
A tattoo artist and commercial mural artist based on the Sunshine Coast, Ky has been working in the art scene since 2014. After his arts training, he started with spray painting in Melbourne before finishing his tattoo apprenticeship. As tattooing began to take up more of his time than murals and community art projects, Ky kept up his painting skills with varying sized pieces to showcase his abilities for tattoo expos under his own name and the studio he works from. Today Ky juggles his time as a tattoo artist, commercial mural artist and painter. His original artworks can be seen in homes, tattoo studios, tattoo expos and art exhibitions around the country. Much like his tattoo work, Ky’s paintings take traditional Japanese motifs and characters but brings them to life with modern day colouring and techniques.
In 2024, Ky teamed up with the guys from Shed Life, and was contracted to bring their massive 40 metre workshop wall to life, along with a collection of car parts for a unique, tattoo inspired finish.
